The SLEIC linux server is called Hoth. It is used for DICOM file storage.

Reminder:
If you are outside of the office, you must first connect to the VPN. Instructions for connecting to the VPN can be found at Use the VPN - Windows and Use the VPN - Mac.

Connect to Hoth from Windows via SSH:

  1. Download and install Xming from http://sourceforge.net/projects/xming/. (If you only need an SSH shell connection (text-based), you can skip this step).
  2. Open Windows Command Prompt by going to the Windows Start Menu, clicking on the 'Windows System' folder, and then clicking on 'Command Prompt'.
  3. In the Command Prompt window, type 'ssh userid@hoth.imaging.psu.edu', where "userid" is your Penn State Access ID, then hit Enter.
  4. If you get a warning message about the authenticity of the host, type 'yes'.
  5. Type your Penn State Access ID Password, and hit Enter.

Connect to Hoth from MacOS via SSH:

  1. Download and install XQuartz from https://www.xquartz.org/. (If you only need an SSH shell connection (text-based), you can skip this step).
  2. Run the application 'Terminal'.
  3. In the Terminal window, type 'ssh userid@hoth.imaging.psu.edu', where "userid" is your Penn State Access ID, then hit Enter.
  4. If you get a warning about 'Host Identification', type 'y', then hit Enter.
  5. Type your Penn State Access ID Password, and hit Enter.
