If you do not keep your mac's operating system up to date, SSRI IT will "nudge" you to encourage the prompt updating of your mac. To avoid the prompts, please update your mac on your own.
- If there is an update for your mac, you will see a prompt at regular intervals reminding you.
Image
- Click on "Update Device" to open System Preferences, install the update, and restart your mac.
- Click on "Defer" to postpone the update temporarily and hide the prompt.
Image
- Note: If you defer too many times, the prompt gets increasingly aggressive:
- You will have to click an additional button to close the prompt window.

- If you still do not install the update:
- The prompt window will automatically minimize all other windows when it opens.
- You will have to click on your open windows to see them again.
- You will NOT lose any unsaved work.
- If the deadline to update has passed and you still have not updated:
- The prompt will open (and minimize all windows) as often as every 5 minutes until you update.
- You will have to click an additional button to close the prompt window.
